Child care is a broad area that covers a wide spectrum of professionals, institutions, contexts, activities, social, and cultural conventions. The sector covers two components early child development and child protection.

Programme Introduction

There is an acute shortage of professionally trained personnel to provide comprehensive services to children in difficult circumstances. There are a large number of personnel working in existing institutions, whether run by government or by non-governmental organizations, who need to be provided with adequate skills and hands on experiences for dealing with children in an effective manner and providing them quality services. The cadre prepared through this course will contribute to the Ministry of women and child Development's plans to hostility examine methos of rationalizing programmes and approaches for creating a strong protective environment for children, diversify and provide essential services for children, mobilize inter-sectoral response for strenghening child protection and set standards for care and services.

The importance of early care and education for children's lifelong learning has been widely established and aknowlwdged. The early childhood period, spanning from pre-natal to 8 years, is the most critical and sensitive period  in the life span of an individual as it coincides with phenomenal brain development. Children's exposure to quality experience in the early years of life is critical to their development and learning outcomes.

The candidate should be a graduate in any discipline.
